Mom’s Strawberry Shortcake
Smoosh strawberries
Keep some berries sliced
Can add frozen raspberries
Some sugar
Biscuit Recipe:
Sift Together:
3 c flour-whisked
1 ½ T Rumford baking powder
2 T granulated sugar
½ tsp salt
¾ tsp cream of tartar
Cut into dry ingredients:
1 ½ sticks cold unsalted butter- in little pieces
Add to dry ingredients and stir briefly:
Mixed 1 c milk and 1 egg
Put on floured counter or pastry cloth
Knead 10 times
Roll to 1 inch thick
Cut with cookie cutter
Place 1 inch apart on ungreased sheet
Sprinkle with sugar
Bake 15-18 mins at 400F
Garnish with Whipped Cream
